"Thoughts of you", Gan See Siong

an ‘unfaithful’ interpretation of the poem “தலைப்பு/Untitled” by Mathikumar Thayumanavan

Thoughts of you arrived
Splintered, disarrayed
Taking up spaces in my heart
Forming a milky way of questions
A map of Songlines

I tried to shape them into coherent pieces
Shards of puzzles
Jostling, cohering
A mosaic in motion

In the wilderness of my heart
I set up dunes here and there
If you see a cascading waterfall
The scene is complete

What I ravel
You unravel
I need you to stop and follow my heartbeat
Our unified beat is the sound of the cascading waterfall

A spider weaves its web onto the breasts of an Artha Mandapa statue
It disturbs the light passing into the structure

I need you to sit still
Let me come to you
Only then will nothing stand between us
